Redding celebrated the Mienh new year on January 18, 2003. Their celebration brings over 1,000 people to Enterprise High School each year.
12/23/2002 - Two men are killed at market
Two Mienh and Hispanic men were shot to death Saturday inside a South Merced convenience store. The drive-by is believed to be gang-related.

Local Sacramento and Lodi Southeast Asian residents have been arrested for the possession of Yaba, also known as methamphetamine. Yaba has its roots from Burma and comes in a little pill. In the United States, Yaba is shipped from Thailand and Laos and targeted at Southeast Asian communities.

Patricia Moore-Howard is a Sacramento teacher who works closely with the Hmong and Mienh. She's known for teaching teachers about Southeast Asian refugees and has written three books on the Mienh, Hmong, and ethnic Lao. After 30 years of teaching, she's retiring but still teaches by way of life.
